TerraLoc goes live on 1 January 2027.

We are building a GPS tracking app for people who spend their days outside — on trails, on skis, on the water — and who want maps that work when the signal doesn't, a log book worth reading, and a live dot their family can follow. Here is what TerraLoc is, what you get on day one, and what comes after.

Why another tracking app

Most tracking apps were built for one sport and then stretched to cover the rest. Ski touring gets treated like a run with a strange pace; a swim–bike–run day becomes three separate activities you stitch together by hand; and the map that looked fine in town goes blank the moment you leave coverage.

We have spent years building SkyTrackPro for pilots, where an offline map and a reliable live position are not features but the whole point. TerraLoc takes that seriousness and applies it to the ground: proper topographic maps you carry with you, metrics that make sense for the sport you are actually doing, and multi-sport days recorded as one activity with real transitions.

Every meter earned. That is the whole idea, and it shapes every screen.

Sports we cover at launch

Each sport gets its own set of metrics, its own map behaviour and its own recording screen. Kiting cares about max speed in knots; ski touring cares about vertical speed and the corrected summit altitude; swimming cares about pace per 100 m. You should never see a data field that doesn't apply to what you are doing.

Multi-sport is the one we are proudest of. Start a recording, switch legs at each transition, and the whole day — skin up, summit on foot, ski down — lands in your log book as a single activity with a clean split.

What you get on day one

Read this like a map key. Everything below ships with the first release on iOS and Android.

• Offline topographic mapsOur own maps with hillshade and contour lines every 200 m. Download a region once and it stays on your phone — no signal needed to see where the ridge goes.
• Sport-specific metrics and editable screensChoose which numbers you see while recording, in what order, across up to four swipeable pages — separately for each sport.
• Live tracking, even without cell signalShare your position with the people who worry about you. When coverage drops, TerraLoc hands off to a satellite messenger so the dot keeps moving and you can send a short check-in from the summit.
• Route planning on real trail networksPlan on actual paths, pistes and shorelines instead of drawing straight lines. Planned sections show as a dashed line, so you always know what is done and what is left.
• Photos pinned to the elevation profileEvery photo you take lands on the profile at the exact altitude and moment it was shot. Years later you will know that this one was taken at 3 418 m, just before the descent.
• Corrected altitudeBarometric correction gives you a summit height you can trust. The raw GPS value is kept and shown next to it, never silently replaced.
• 3D replay and 3D live viewReplay any activity over the terrain with follow, orbit and top-down cameras, or watch your friends' live dots move across a 3D map while they are still out there.
• Clubs and the Vertical LeagueJoin your club, count every meter of ascent towards its standing, and see exactly how far you are from the next rank. Challenges run alongside for individuals.

Your data stays with TerraLoc

There is no Apple, Google or Facebook sign-in, and there never will be. You create a TerraLoc account and that is the only account involved. Your tracks, your photos and the position of your live dot are not sold, shared or handed to advertising networks. We would rather grow slowly with people who trust us than quickly with people who don't.

You will be able to export everything you record in standard formats — GPX and FIT — from day one. Your log book belongs to you.

What comes after launch

We are shipping the phone apps first and building outward from there. The current plan:

One honest note on timing: the first of January is our target, not a promise carved in rock. If the multi-sport transitions or the satellite hand-off are not right, we will hold the release rather than ship something we would not use ourselves.
