The software, and what you may do with it.

By installing, accessing or using TerraLoc, you accept this agreement. If you do not accept it, do not install or use the software.

The licence you are given

We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to install and use TerraLoc on devices you own or control, for your own recording, planning and analysis, and for the activities of a club or event you belong to.

The licence lasts as long as you comply with this agreement. It is a licence to use the software, not a sale of it: ownership of TerraLoc stays with us.

What the licence does not allow

• Copying, redistributing, reselling, renting or sublicensing the software.
• Reverse engineering, decompiling or disassembling it, except where that right cannot lawfully be restricted.
• Removing or obscuring any copyright, trademark or attribution notice.
• Using the software to build a competing product, or to extract its data or map content in bulk.
• Circumventing limits on a plan, an account, or the API.

Your data is not covered by this licence

Nothing here gives us ownership of what you record. Your tracks, routes, photographs and notes remain yours; the licence you grant us to store and display them is set out in the Terms and goes no further than running the service. You can export your activities at any time.

Updates

We may issue updates, and features may be added, changed or withdrawn. Updates are covered by this agreement unless they come with terms of their own. Where the app updates automatically through an app store, you can change that in your device settings, though an old version may stop working with the platform.

App stores

The mobile app is distributed through the Apple App Store and Google Play. Their terms apply to the download alongside this agreement, and where their rules require something different from what is written here, their rules govern the download. Apple and Google are not parties to this agreement and provide no warranty or support for TerraLoc.

Third-party components

TerraLoc is built on open-source work, and those components keep their own licences, which are not superseded by this agreement. Among them:

• MapLibre GL, which renders the maps.
• PMTiles, which packages the offline map regions.
• BRouter, which computes routes in the planner.
• Bootstrap and the interface libraries the website is built with.

Map, terrain and elevation data come from third-party providers and are used under their own terms. Attribution is shown on the map wherever those terms require it, and you must not remove it.

Beta and preview features

Some features are released early and marked as such. They may be incomplete, may change, and may be withdrawn. Data recorded through a preview feature should not be treated as a permanent record until the feature leaves preview.

Termination

This licence ends if you breach it, and you may end it at any time by uninstalling the software and closing your account. On termination you must stop using TerraLoc and remove it from your devices. The sections on ownership, disclaimers and jurisdiction survive.

No warranty

TerraLoc is licensed “as is”, without warranty of any kind. In particular, and this is worth stating plainly on a product used outdoors: navigation, route planning, elevation figures, weather information and live tracking are aids and not safety equipment. Do not rely on them where a failure would put you at risk. The limits of our liability are set out in the Terms and apply here too.

Jurisdiction

This agreement is governed by the laws of Switzerland, and any dispute shall be resolved in the competent courts of Zurich, Switzerland.
